Sony Xperia Firmware Updates to Built No 4.0.2.A.0.62

I just updated my SE Xperia Arc from Built No 4.0.2.A.0.42 to 4.0.2.A.0.62 thru OTA updates (This can be done via PC Companion too). It is a simple steps, just go to “Update Centre” app in your phone, and press Menu –> Refresh if it does not prompt you. I have print screen some of the update process below.

The updates is to improve the memory management and perhaps to rectify some bugs according to the Sony Ericsson blog. There is no official release notes for this updates. My friend is using Xperia Ray, also got the updates already.

Update Center - Message to prompt for Install

Once I clicked Install, downloading begin

Once downloaded, the installation process will reboot the phone.

Once the firmwave updated, it will reboot back the phone back. And you can start using it.

And you can see Built No is now 4.0.2.A.0.62

Android 2.3.4 Update for SE Xperia – Reached Malaysia

Finally the Android 2.3.4 updates have reached Malaysia. I just updated my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc  with latest firmware. The whole process took less than 15 minutes using SE PC Companion software. The Xperia Family that will receive this latest firmware are Arc, Play, Neo, Mini, Mini Pro, Ray, Active, Neo V, Arc S and Walkman.

Some of the features of Android 2.3.4:-

  • Google Talk with Video Chat for smartphones with front-facing cameras
  • Updated Facebook inside Xperia functionality for enhanced like, share and discover abilities.
  • Xperia smartphones introducing world’s first 3D Sweep Panorama functionality powered by Sony.
  • 16x video zoom
  • The software upgrade will enable consumers to turn their Xperia smartphone into a mini-mobile PC by connecting USB peripherals (mouse, keyboard or game controller) to Sony Ericsson LiveDock multimedia station. Connect the smartphone to a TV via HDMI to get a big screen experience.
  • Gesture input – text input by swiping the finger from one letter to the next
  • WiFi DLNA
  • Screen capture – allows the user to share a screen grab from anywhere in the phone.
  • Themes
  • New Widgets like Weather, Favourites & Call Log

Trying to check for updates thru OTA

It prompt that update is available and ask to use PC Companion

Version 2.3.3 before the firmware update

PC Companion - Stage 1 of Updates. It said that personal data will be kept.

Stage 2 of Updates - Preparing the updates

Stage 2 of updates - downloading the firmware

Stage 2 - Checking the phone once download completed

Stage 3 - Updating the firmware into your phone

Final Stage - Completed and ask to disconnect phone from PC. Then power on your Xperia phone

Final Stage - Successfull update message with new firmware.

Android Version now show as 2.3.4

UI of Android 2.3.4. The different here is the Folder. Now, it will show the icon of apps inside the folder.

New Widget like Weather, Fav. & Call Log, etc.

New Apps like 3D Camera and 3D Album. 3D camera is to shoot 3D or normal panaroma.

Theme option now is available

There are 7 themes available to choose.
