Claypot Superior Soup Pan Mee (面粉糕)
One Six Eight Pan Mee Restaurant
One Six Eight Pan Mee is located at Aman Puri, Kepong and it is one of the favorite shops for pan mee among the locals. It has been quite a few years that I never go back to eat my favorite clay pot superior soup pan mee. What I like about their version of clay pot pan mee is the ingredients such as fish maw, clam, ham slices and abalone slices (I think it is not a real abalone, maybe it is vegetarian abalone). Those ingredients will make the soup tastier. Another thing I like about is the noodle is not the flat type, it is Min Fun Kueh. This was how my mum version too.
There are two sizes when you order the clay pot version, either small (2 pax) or big (3 pax). I feel the small portion is sufficient for 3 persons to eat. I saw the other table ordered the big portion and there was 5 of them. Besides the clay pot version, they also have the normal pan mee (soup and dry version) in a bowl. And the clay pot small portion costs us RM 23.50 and a big portion is RM 28.80
Min Fun Kueh is one of my favorite Chinese noodles, I think perhaps this was what I eat since young. Of course the best ones always the version that my mum cooked for me and my siblings. You might be wondering how does this special clay pot superior soup pan mee taste like. I feel the taste (soup) was much better at those days compare to now. I don’t like the soup as it is very dark in color due to the soya sauce. I guess it is either the minced pork or mushroom with too much soya sauce. If you never try it before, you can give it a try and maybe you will like it. : )
I am grateful to have a chance to go back to this restaurant to have my favorite noodle. Even though the taste has changed, it is still a nice moment to be there, with all the memories.
