Read by Linda Ellis, find your time to understand the message behind the poem

You can visit to read the full poem and one of the phrases that is meaningful to me is below.

What mattered most of all was the dash between those years.

Linda Ellis

The dash is the time we spent alive, between the day we were born till the day we passed away. Have you ever thought of it, how did you spend your life from the day you were born until today? Are you proud of it? Anything memorable? Anything that if giving a chance to go back in time, you will do it differently?

Of course what past is already past, it is what we learned from the past and how do we want to change it today. As for me, I want to invest early to build my retirement savings. If I start investing at the age of 23, compare to let say age 33, or 43. There are many benefits. First, it is the time, assume I want to retire at the age of 53, and I will have 30 years to build my retirement fund instead of 10 years if start at age 43. With longer period, the fund will have more time for the compound interest to do his magic.

Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world.
